Serenity Calming Blend

When you think of the word serenity, what do you picture?  How do you feel? Just typing the word makes me feel peaceful, calm, relaxed.  I picture a sandy beach and salty waves. I hear the sound of a gentle breeze. I smell something warm and slightly sweet.

We talk a lot about the connection between stress and your hormones and how essential oils can help ease stress and promote relaxation and feelings of peace and calm.  One of my favorite blends to use for this purpose is DoTerra’s Serenity Calming Blend.  This amazing blend combines the essential oils of Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Hawaiian Sandalwood, and Vanilla Bean.

Say goodbye to comfort foods and hello to your new go-to whenever you need a little zen.  With Lavender as the first ingredient, you know it’s going to give you immediate relaxation, but all of the oils in this blend are very soothing and calming to the mind and nervous system.  Lavender and Ylang Ylang provide sweet, floral notes that hit you first. Sweet Marjoram and Roman Chamomile contribute the herbaceous undertones, and Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean round out this blend with deep, smooth, and earthy aromas.  It is perfect synergy!

How to Use

Diffusion When you’re feeling tense or have had a particularly busy and stressful day, try diffusing a few drops in your diffuser.  Sit back, close your eyes, and let the aroma calm your mind and take you to your happy place.

Topically When your mind is too busy to let you fall asleep or you feel like you’re so wired that you’re having trouble getting your beauty sleep, try applying diluted Serenity to the bottoms of your feet before you climb into bed.

Aromatherapy jewelry  If you suffer from anxious feelings brought on by stress, get yourself an aromatherapy necklace or bracelet to which you can add a few drops of oil.  Not only will you smell great throughout the day, but when you feel your stress or anxiousness increasing all you have to do is hold it up to your nose and take a few deep breaths to quickly calm your nerves.

Bath  At the end of a long day it’s nice to unwind in a nice warm bath.  If it’s been an especially hairy day try adding a couple drops of Serenity blend to some epsom salts and soak away your cares.

If you find that you need a little uplift or energizing note to go along with your calm, Serenity blends well with citruses like Lime or Wild Orange, and also with spearmint for a fresh boost.

We could all use a little more serenity in our lives.  Give this one a try and be amazed at how your feelings of tension and stress seem to melt away.
